Interesting Golf Jobs in an Industry That Has Unlimited Possibilities

June 30, 2008

The potential for golf jobs continues to increase as the golf industry has become such a popular place to begin a career. Some of the golf jobs can be obtained with a good education in the business of golf and some are available with an experience requirement of simply playing the game in your spare time.

When most people think of golf jobs, they usually only think of golf professionals or golf shop attendants and caddies, while there are several different types and an unlimited amount of golf jobs that are available in the golf industry today.

A common misconception concerning golf jobs is that you have to be an excellent golfer to land a job in the golf industry. This is not exactly true, as there are many golf jobs that do not require you to even play golf, as long as you know the business of golf. When you have experience or training in other areas relating to the business of golf, there are endless possibilities in the golf industry and golf jobs.

One of the best and most interesting golf jobs to obtain is the job of starter, as it is an important, high-profile position at the golf course and pays very well also. This job has many advantages and benefits, even though there are many responsibilities that are required of the person in this job.

The most important and core duty of the starter is to maintain control of the tee times of all golfers and ensure that the players start at the correct time which they are scheduled. If there are any discrepancies in tee times, it will interfere with other golf players and put them behind on their starting times, as well.

Another task of the starter is enforcing the rules and policies of the golf facility. For example, the starter has to make certain there are no carts allowed on the paths, only four players to a game and that no beverages or coolers are brought onto the grounds. Enforcement of these rules will necessitate a tactful and firm approach.

The starter also has the responsibility of making sure that there is a steady pace of play on the entire golf course, which means he will need to travel around to each hole offering help, if needed. For medical or emergency aid, the starter will notify the first aid station by two-way radio while remaining calm and attending to the injured person until they arrive.

Good interpersonal skills are necessary for the job of starter and the starter also needs to have common sense and tact in completing most of the tasks that are required of him. The starter must be able to manage time and have excellent organizational skills, as well as be friendly and courteous.

While most people only think of a “golf pro”, when they think of golf jobs, there are several different types of golf jobs that are available in the golf industry today. Some of these jobs would include golf course management, grounds maintenance, marketing and promotions, golf caddie, starter and concessions clerk.

Golfing is one of the best ways to spend an afternoon of relaxation on a weekend or day off work. This is especially true if you enjoy the sport and have extra time to spend on the course. Imagine though, if you had a golf job, you could spend every day at the golf course.

How to Create and Test Effective Systems For Your Business

The Greatest Form of Advertising Any Business Can Have - Testimonials.

June 29, 2008

The Author of the most practical business book - Secrets To Retail Riches – provides the following article on the most effective way to advertise your business – for FREE!

Testimonials –

How does everyone else get to find out what great service your company provided. How else do they find out how good you are? You have to tell them, but through a third person, because this has far more credibility and also because in general people live vicariously through the thoughts and opinions of others.

The best way to do this is by having a statement by one (or more) of your very satisfied customers. This statement can be written or recorded on an audio or video recording.

Written

If a customer rings to thank you and tell you how great your goods and / or service was, ask them to put it in writing for you. If they seem reluctant because it seems like hard work, offer to do it for them, using their words. Simply write what they said as best you remember it, then send it to them to read and make changes as necessary. When they are happy with it, get them to sign it.

You can now use this as part of your ad, or have it displayed in store, or send it with your mail outs or other marketing material. This adds credibility to your company, but more importantly builds trust amongst potential customers that you are the right business to deal with, because other customers (like them) said so!

Audio

If you have a digital recorder, or an MP3 player with voice recording (which is most of them these days) or a laptop computer (which nearly all have built in microphones), you can actually record the voice of the person giving the testimonial and then use this – on your website, in radio advertising, on an audio reel playing in store, or if you have one of those recorder voice messages your customers listen to over the phone whilst on hold, you can have it playing on that.

Video

Do you have a small digital camera with the ability to take video? If not go out and purchase one immediately. They are not at all expensive, can be written off as a business expense and can transform your business.

Once you have permission to record their image (or voice), simply hold the small camera up at about your chest level and start recording (you do not want to hold it directly in front of your face as this may then be a little distracting for the customer). Let them see your face – let them talk to you. The camera is there to capture them talking normally. The more sincere they are, the more powerful the testimonial.

Tips

Before recording (voice or video) - Always ask the person first what they are going to say. Most people are not very natural at this, so a little bit of coaching can help them.

Listen to what they say and then say it back to them in a concise way, using their words. Make sure you tell them to use your name or the store name in their testimonial.

Then start the recorder and actually ask them again “So I have your permission to record this and use it for our store?” (now you have the permission on tape so they can’t come back at a later stage saying they never gave permission).

Then just ask them to explain how they found their experience.

Record this to your computer. When you want to edit the file and collate several of them, free programs that came with you computer (eg Windows movie maker etc) are all that are required.

If you are not familiar with these products, just ask any teenager you know to do it for you. They all seem to find these things second nature and they all use them on a regular basis.

You can also type out exactly what was said in the audio and video testimonial and use this a s a written testimonial in any of your letters or other mail outs, or as an attachment to any email you send out or even on a separate page on your website.

I can help you with that and every aspect of your business through my step by step, hand holding mentoring program.

The Most Important Lesson You Will Learn in Business

June 29, 2008

The Author of the most practical business book - Secrets To Retail Riches – provides the following article on knowing how to get exactly what you want from your business!

Why did I get started in this business?

This question is not as simple to answer as it may first appear, so really take your time to think about it. Be very specific in your answer. It does not matter how long the answer ends up being.

Most likely your answer will cover these points –

Selling Effectively - Increase Your Chances of Closing Each Sale.

June 29, 2008

The Author of the most practical business book - Secrets To Retail Riches – provides the following article on the most effective way sell to sell to customers in your business.

SELLING

Through effective advertising and marketing, you have brought customers to your store in a state ready to purchase from you. Many businesses loose the sale at this point, because they are not aware of the basic techniques of selling.

Humans are predisposed to avoid pain and receive pleasure and this drives everything we do. Customers buy products or services to give them pleasure or avoid pain. The reason they don’t buy everything they can is because of some perceived pain they want to avoid in the buying process.

They are only happy if the purchase is worth the benefit. For these people to buy, the perceived pleasure must be greater than the perceived pain.

Salesmanship

Selling is about a relationship – not the goods or the service.

It is about understanding the customer, developing emotion in the customer to buy. To do this you need to adapt and adjust your rate of speech and body language.

First sell yourself, the company, the product or service, then the price.

The better your marketing and advertising are, the easier it is to sell, as many of the steps required to sell have been covered.

The sales process should start with –

- marketing and attracting interest and leads, then

- communicating with the prospect, then

- qualifying the prospect,

- addressing the needs of the prospect

- closing the sale and then

- asking for referrals

The goods or services offered by your business are constantly being evaluated by potential customers. Depending on your type of operation and location, you may be phoned or visited and asked just a question, or a series of in depth questions. Or your advertising or web page may be scrutinized for more information. It is how you handle these enquirers and information gatherers that will determine if you will sell to them.

88% of sales are based upon emotion not price – but remember too high a price can trigger an emotion of fear or pain

Ask any store owner and I am sure they will tell you the most frustrating thing about dealing with the public, is that most walk in and if you ask them “Can I help you at all?” and they say

“No thanks – just looking” and leave shortly after without purchasing anything.

The other annoyance is having people call you for a price, only to get it and hang up and ring somewhere else looking for something cheaper.

In each instance, you have to engage the prospect in conversation, to establish some key points to take them to a level where they will buy from you, not because you are the cheapest, but because you built a relationship with them and showed them the value of the goods or services being offered and the value in buying from you.

What is the difference between a Lead and a prospect?

You need to know where this person stands in the buying cycle. Are they –

A Lead – a person whom you have reached through one of your marketing methods discussed in chapter 4. A lead has become interested enough to enquire more to see if what you are offering meets their need or solves their problem.

or

A prospect – is a lead that believes what your business offers should meet his needs or solves his problems and he has the resources available to make a purchase.

Only through conversation can you establish which one of these you are dealing with and bring them to a level where they will buy. As with most everything else discussed in this book, this will require a system. One that any of your staff who deal with the public (face to face or over the phone) can use.

This system is to be used to determine what needs your leads and prospects have and to address those needs, BEFORE giving them a firm price on anything.

The 6 Steps to the selling System

Selling is a step by step process and if each of the steps is taken in that process, at the end of it, the customer has no reason not to buy from you.

The steps are –

1. Establish report and build trust

2. Qualify – listen and understand

3. Create desire for the solution to their problem or need

4. Build value in your solution

5. Overcome objections

6. Take the order.

Always think of your business from your customers point of view. This is best done by thinking What’s in it for me? – because that’s what your customer is always thinking.

I can help you with this and every aspect of your business through my step by step, hand holding mentoring program. I can lay out far more detail on how to teh six steps to selling and how to convert that to an over 90% close rate.

MBWA - Management By Walking Around

June 29, 2008

Your employees are your most valuable asset. Not only is it your employees who create your finished product or service but it employees who are the face of your business for your business or organization. Yet many employers feel that employees are easily replaceable - the system led assembly line style replaceable worker style of management. One worker is the same as the other it is reasoned up on the top floor. Replace on number or unit with another it’s as simple as that. “That replacement unit will be on the factory floor /order desk / car shortly”

Yet at the end of the day it is these dedicated workers – not upper management who produce the firm’s services, products and profits. When employees leave for a new employer the reason is seldom deals with money – salary and benefits, but rather with feelings of not being appreciated, or their talents not recognized and being used to full potential. In the end it all comes down to treating employees with the appreciation and recognition that they rightly deserve.

What are some of the traits and practices that an effective manager can utilize to handle these events and cut them off ahead of time at the pass? The key is pro-action not bolting the door and forming committees after the horse is long out of the barn.

First get out in the real world. Enjoy getting out from behind the desk, or the top floor and practice “MWBA”, that is management by walking around. There is nothing more instructive and insightful than actually seeing what transpires in the real world , customer’s concerns , the interaction of your employees with your customers and the functioning of your business in the trenches at the “front lines’. You may actually be amazed at how different it all is compared to what is presented to “head office”. As such you will have obtained a much better idea of your employee’s problems and perceptions and as well have obtained a better vision of the skill sets and attributes of individual employees.

Next in line is the power of appreciation. For jobs well done or events performed it never hurts to send a personal note- as opposed to a form letter. A personal note – especially a handwritten note shows attention to detail and great appreciation.

In addition if positive customer comments arrive – either by phone or letter it’s always a wise idea to pass the positive comments along to the relevant party.

Next in line is how you relate as a manager to your employees. Make it a specific point and practice to “practice random acts of kindness”. Take time to thank people, you might reward staff by little spiffs like sports events tickets, restaurant vouchers and the like. Often suppliers will pass these along as gifts or trials to their accounts but somehow these spiffs only get to certain groups. Make the point to spread these around. After all they did not cost the firm anything and they are in appreciation for your business to said supplier or vendor wishing you to try out and evaluate their product or products.

Lastly people live to be part of something. They buy Pepsi cola rather than sugar water and thus pay a premium to be part of the “Pepsi Generation”. ”.It is your responsibility to develop what might be called a “company culture” or a “family environment”. Most people and employees want to be involved and be a part of something greater than “just their job”. Most major companies such as Disney and Starbucks do this. The employees feel themselves to be part of something greater than just their solitary job. It might be said that they are part of “the team” or alternatively “the family”.

In the end this all takes effort on the part of management. However on the other side when you consider the cost of training – finding staff , interviewing , training costs , lost sales and profits from inexperienced staff as well as lost sales due to contacts lost with employee turnover – it all makes a great amount of sense to do everything you can to retain your employees. It may sound difficult; the concepts may be off base to your current management mindset. However in the end it all comes down to common sense and basic appreciation and recognition of your employees as human beings and valuable members of the enterprise. It never hurts to sincerely thank someone. It never hurts to ask.

June 29, 2008

Imagine you are running a big company or an organization, probably you are the marketing executive and definitely you need high sales. The best tactics you would implement is training your sales representatives on how best they can achieve great sales.

Some organizations or firms would have to employ or recruit a sales and marketing trainer to educate the sales representatives of that organization. Many tactics are implemented and these may include online training sales.

Great training is recommended for any business or organization. Sales trainers will advise you on various advantages and disadvantages of increasing sales by marketing, advertising, online sales.

Some techniques that are implemented by one organization may not suit the other because each businesses needs are unique. Sales trainers have been in the sales industry for many years and can determine what your business needs are and design a session that will benefit your company.

Another concept that is also used in sales training is the selection of your advertising media. If you are a new organization you most likely will want to draw in as many clients as possible. Sales training will allow your sales people to do this easily.

Sales training in the past has been difficult, especially when the majority of your sales force is out of the office.

With sales training, you can set up the training sessions in many different ways. You can hold in office sessions for new hires and in house sales people and online sessions for your sales people who are on the road.

Many businesses think that sales training is not necessary; that it is an added expense that their company can do without. However, businesses today are different than those of even ten years ago. They are more aggressive, and with more businesses joining the online community everyday, every business needs to have an edge over their competition. Sales training gives you that edge.

With so many businesses joining the online community, it has given consumers many more options on who to do business with. It has literally opened up the world to them. It is necessary for every business to be aggressive and creative in obtaining their business. Sales training teaches your sales people how to attract customers and close the sale.

Sales training is not just for your sales staff, it can be used by everyone in your office who has contact with your customers. It can teach valuable skills that can be used by your entire staff.

Businesses that have been skeptical about using sales training tracked their profit margin after the sales training session and have reported increased sales within the first month that the session was completed.

Every company is out there to make profits. Increase of sales is of paramount importance in an organization or firm. Whether the company is starting or it wants to expand it first has to undergo the kind of marketing strategies that they will use so as to create or increase sales. What to Include in a Balanced Scorecard PPT Presentation

June 29, 2008

Amongst the many business and management tools in the corporate world right now, one of the most effective ones would certainly be the balanced scorecard. This is because the tool exists to measure a company’s present status against the goals and objectives that the company had planned to achieve in the first place. What are these goals and objectives? These are both the long-term and the short-term goals that the company had aimed to achieve during the first few years of its existence. These might even be the goals and objectives that the company had set up during its very foundation. There are many aspects that come with the balanced scorecard, and explaining these can be a bit difficult. This is especially true when you are explaining the tool to people who do not really recognize it that much. Thus, it would be so much better to prepare a balanced scorecard PPT presentation.

A PowerPoint presentation can be used to discuss the different aspects of the balanced scorecard. You have to bear in mind that not all of the members of your audience are familiar with the balanced scorecard. The terms that you use, even if these are simple to your own ears, these just might not be easy to grasp for the common person. But when you present the aspects in a PowerPoint presentation, the technicalities just might be made easier to understand. Moreover, the PowerPoint application actually allows your audience to be interactive during the whole presentation. You can insert animated images, to make the presentation all the more interesting. You are discussing a business concept, after all, and any business concept might become a bit tedious or boring to discuss. Capturing and maintaining the interest of your audience is indeed a must here.

So, what should your PPT presentation contain? For one thing, it should include the four perspectives of the balanced scorecard, as well as its measures, its targets, and its initiatives. You should also present the inherent roles and responsibilities of every member of the company or organization, from the higher management, all the way to the frontline employees who face customers every single workday. Moreover, you should include the benefits of using the balanced scorecard as a tool towards a more efficient management system.

These concepts should also be included and thoroughly discussed: Activity Based Costing, Forecasting, Benchmarking, Economic Value Added, Market Research, Six Sigma, Re-Engineering, Statistical Process Control, Total Quality Management or TQM, Learning Organization, Empowerment, and Self-Directed Work Teams. All of these aspects are very important, especially when you start developing your balanced scorecard.

And if that is not all, you should also discuss the four perspectives of the balanced scorecard very thoroughly, which are Customer Perspective, Regulatory/Financial Perspective, Internal Perspective, and Learning and Growth. The aspects categorized under these perspectives should also be discussed.

Lastly, you should also explain how the measurements should be panned out. For instance, discuss how the measurements should be able to translate the expectations of customers into reachable goals. Discuss how measurements should evaluate the processes that take place, as well as their quality.

With a balanced scorecard PPT presentation as detailed and thorough as this, you will surely have no problem discussing every nook and cranny of this management tool.
